Capel Iwan Archive 2004 03 - Merched y Wawr

It is based on a CD ROM, prepared by Capel Iwan PTA, to mark the retirement of Mr. James in 2004, and celebrate his twenty eight years as head teacher of Capel Iwan School.

There is also a spreadsheet file (Capel Iwan Primary School History.xls) which is mainly to do with the school, but contains notes relating to some of the photos in this section. A summary of these notes being used in the file-name of each image, where possible.

The CD sleeve included the following note -

An acknowledgement must be made to the late Miss. Eilwen Jenkins, (a former teacher at both Parcylan and Capel Iwan schools) who initially assembled and annotated most of the older photos in 1988, and thanks to Mr. Iwan Jenkins for allowing her work to be used on the CD.

Sponsored knit 1993	Llun o aelodau Cangen Capel Iwan o Ferched y Wawr gyda blancedi wedi eu gwau ganddynt. Mae cofnodion y Gangen o Fawrth y 3ydd, 1993 yn nodi ‘Wrth i’r aelodau gymryd rhan yn y gwau noddedig casglwyd cyfanswm o £390, swydd i’w rannu rhwng y gangen a danfon nwyddau allan i Lesotho. Bydd y blancedi yn cael eu dangos yn y Pwyllgor Rhanbarth ar Fawrth 8fed a penderfynwyd rhoi’r blancedi i Mr Teifryn Harries a fydd yn teithio allan i Romania, i’w dosbarthu rhwng y tlodion yno. Branch records from March 3rd, 1993 state that 'As members took part in the sponsored knitting a total of £390 was collected, a post to be shared between the branch and deliveries to Lesotho. The blankets will be shown at the Regional Committee on March 8th and it was decided to donate the blankets to Mr Teifryn Harries who will be traveling out to Romania for distribution to the poor there. Mae Casa del Cymru yn gwmni sydd yn gwneud pasta unigryw cartref. Mae’r uned wedi lleoli yn Horeb ger Llandysul. Members enjoying a mysterious trip to Casa del Cymru - where they had the opportunity to make fresh ravioli. Casa del Cymru is a unique home-made pasta company. The unit is based in Horeb near Llandysul.

As it stated on the CD, this ... is not, by any means, a "finished article", as it is hoped that future editions ... will include additional photos, memories, articles and research; which are invited for contribution by any member of the community.
